Plumb thy Neighbor

We have a neighbor across the street from us that has asked us to help him get his house ready to rent.
We had one of the coldest stretches this winter we've seen since we moved here 14 years ago.
Our neighbors spend each winter in Florida.
We are in the mountains of Colorado.
Their house was empty.
The heat was off.
Damn.

I hate plumbing.

Pictures of burst pipes as soon as Blogger lets me.

  1. Love Your Blog! We have a rustic cabin built in 1908 up in the "mountains" of WA State. Each fall we drain our hot water tank and fill the toilet bowel w/RV antifreeze, turning off the water until we return again. If we come up during the winter, we must go thru the whole process again. It's a pain but not as much of a pain as broken pipes! :)

  2. Love your Blog! We have a rustic cabin in the Cascade Mountains of WA State. Every fall we drain our hot water tank/pipes and add RV antifreeze to the drains and toilet. If we go up during the winter we have to go thru the process again before we leave. It's part of our winter ritual which some of our neighbors either forget or chose to not follow. Yes, it can be a bit of a pain BUT not as much pain as broken pipes. :)

  3. Yes, I published both comments in spite of them being almost duplicates. After all, they started off with "Love your Blog!"

  5. I do hope he's paying you. Leaving your house un-heated and un-winterized is really dumb.

I had to turn verification back on. Ten "spams" an hour is making me crazy...
